Vernie Joseph French, Sr, was an extraordinary man who died recently at age 85. We were at St Clotilde Church, in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood, the morning of his funeral. His life is so representative of so many of Chatham's extraordinary residents that we thought it proper to read from his obituary while showing a walk-through of St Clotilde.
