Seaside Gardens is in Carpinteria, just 10 minutes south of our base in Santa Barbara CA. The 3 acre+ botanical wonderland showcases 11 garden vignettes, created by local designers, from around the world. You can see what does well in this part of coastal California. Plus, it is also a nursery - you can buy plants, containers, garden art, etc. What gets better that that! This is the Central/South American Garden. Moving from jungle to desert, Peter Fletcher's design highlights plant varieties of Latin America. Palm trees, split-leaf philodendron, abutilon, Chilean mesquite, furcraea and other large species form the foundation for colorful species. The palette is a free-flowing mix of bright colors embracing alstroemeria, salvias, walking iris, princess flower, fuchsia, angel's trumpet, terrestrial bromeliads, tagetes and more. This garden comes alive with flowers, butterflies, and an abundant hummingbird population in mid to late summer. This is the first in a series of videos that we shot at this beautiful garden. We will also be doing a blog post to go along with it including lots of photos. Nell's tour shows you lots of plants & flowers you would normally in Latin America. Enjoy! This is where I share all things gardening & creating.
