MLS has awarded Columbus Crew defender Chad Marshall the Visa Defender of the Year Award for 2008. Marshall started and played 29 games during the regular season, helping the Crew capture the Supporters' Shield. The Crew defense allowed the third fewest goals (36) in the league.
