Originally recorded May 6, 2014. 4 days after opening the pool, the filter was clogged up with dirt, debris, and algae. Time to backwash. Backwashing reverses the flow of water through the filter, and instead of going back to the pool, it goes out to waste. Along with the debris, goes the charge of D.E. or Diatomaceous Earth, so this does need to be replenished after backwashing. You'll generally know when it's time to backwash by checking your pressure gauge, and see how the flow has diminished back to the pool. If it looks like it's time, it's time.
