What is the difference between x-intercepts and zeros? X-intercepts are the points where the graph touches or crosses the x-axis. Zeros are the points where the function has zero value. Real zeros and x-intercepts coincides while the complex zeros cannot be represented on the x-coordinate. Zeros have order (multiplicity) and the decide the behaviour of the curve at x-intercepts. Linear zero (order 1) crosses the x-axis like a line, quadratic (degree 2) zero bounces back and cubic (degree 3) curves and the crosses like tilde sign.
