Charyapada:
Charyagaan is the most ancient Bangladeshi music tradition. Twelve hundred years ago, the Buddhist practitioners and poets of Paharpur village in the district of Naogaon performed Chayagaan. After the end of Buddha reign in 1200 AD, the tradition of Charyagaan extinct from Paharpur [Somapura Mahavihara]. The Bhabnagar practitioners have become successful to re-introduce Charyagan after twelve hundred years. These artists get together every evening to practice Charyagaan up to mid-night. Some of these artists are Baul Sadhak, some are Tantrik Worshiper,some are Islamic Sufi Sadhak and some others are the followers of mixed doctrines. It is to mention that they use ancient traditional musical instruments like ektara, dotara, khomok, dhol, korotal, basori (flute), premjuri etc.
