Hendersonville Man Arrested After Attempted B&E%

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- Police say a man tried to smash his way into an ABC store in Hendersonville and then led them on a chase. It all happened before 10 o'clock Tuesday night. Andreas Saucedo, 31, of Fletcher is now behind bars, facing six charges including attempted breaking and entering, felony fleeing to elude arrest, and reckless driving to endanger. That ABC store on Church Street hasn't seen many break-ins in the past. The general manager says only one person has been successful at getting in and stealing something. "We spent a little extra money on the tempered glass which is much harder to break," Powers English, the general manager of three Hendersonville ABC stores, said. That second window pane stopped the suspect, who police have identified as Saucedo, from getting in even after using a stick to one of the store's windows. "He did attempt a long distance throw with whatever object he had in his hand and apparently it didn't work, so he proceeded to walk up to the window and attempted it for another minute or so and then finally gave up," English said. That's when the suspect sped out of that ABC store's parking lot and soon after led police on a chase that got up to 60 miles per hour. "I understand that an officer did spot the vehicle, was pretty sure that was it, and attempted to stop this individual," English said. "He tried to outrun them which was unsuccessful." For this general manager, what matters is his employees and customers are safe. Also, no money or merchandise were stolen, so English considers them lucky outside of having to replace an expensive window. "We'll take care of it," English said. "It's just part of doing business."
