This Faroese TV documentary ("Her er dagur og dimmið er av") is about independence referendum, held on September 14th, 1946. Even though pro-independence side won and full sovereignity was initially promised to the Faroese people by Danish prime minister, it was never granted, non less because of destructive work by Faroese unionists and loyalists.

Instead of full independence, the Faroes, previously just a usual Danish province (amt) got a kind of home rule within the kingdom of Denmark - the status, they are still having now, despite pro-independence forces having been a strong and important factor in Faroese politics ever since 1946.
