South African duo formed by the Rantseli brothers, Marc and Alex, from Diepkloof in Soweto in the 1980s. They started off their career with the group August Formation, and were then backing singers for Chicco before being discovered by Rick Wolff and eventually signed to Tusk Records by Benjy Mudie in 1988. Their first album “MarcAlex” was released in 1988 and the song "Heartbreakin' Love", taken from the album, went to #1 on the 5FM Top 40 in March 1989. Their second single, “Quick Quick” (also from the album), repeated this feat in June 1989, making them the first South African act to have two #1 hits in the same year. In 1989 they won the OKTV Award for Best Newcomer.
