The company: http://www.documont.com/ Was kind enough to send me a prototype of their Kowala lapboard. A great little device where you lift the top part up and put your ipad inside then add the top back on as it attaches via magnets. It creates a lapboard out of your ipad which makes it much easier to draw on without the use of a glove. The way it works is simple. With all the extra surface area that is pretty much flush with your ipad you can rest your palm and arm away from the screen so you can easily draw with the screen tilted upwards like I had or completed flat. It adds a whole other level of drawing on the ipad. Pen used is the wacom stylus for Ipad. The handmade KOWALA is the first ergonomic work surface for the iPad which improves the sketching, writing, viewing and typing capabilities of your iPad. First thought of as a drawing surface, the KOWALA was inspired by the traditional wooden drafting table. What truly elevates the KOWALA from the rest of the other lapboards and stands is the spacious acrylic work surface which does two very important things, elevates the hand above the touchscreen and supports your palm to minimize stress and fatigue to your wrist and shoulder. WORKSURFACE When we designed the KOWALA we did countless tests to determine how much space was needed to support the palms. We did the most common task for drawing, writing and typing. We strategically designed the size to make sure there was enough surface to work with. The surface is a glass like acrylic material so there is absolutely no resistance to your hands and the result is a more natural motion to your strokes. WORKSTATION If you already love drawing with your iPad then the KOWALA is the perfect companion for you. The support of your palms on the work surface reduces fatigue, allowing you to draw much longer. What also makes KOWALA unique from any other lapboard or stand is the fact that the work surface sits on top of the iPad, which elevates your hand to hover across the touch screen without contacting it. The combination of the spacious work surface, acrylic material and the elevation of your hands is what makes the KOWALA a true killer drawing workstation. SIMPLICITY AND LIGHTWEIGHT When we designed the KOWALA we wanted something that literally took seconds to set up, while being light enough to be portable. We achieved these two critical points by the use of magnets as a locking system and the material chosen to keep the weight down to about the same weight as the iPad itself. Setting up and storing is a breeze and thats what makes the KOWALA an intelligent micro-workstation. VIEWING ANGLE and PORTABLE STAND Recently there has been report about the iPad being an ergonomic hazard that's why we include a third party portable stand. The stand allows angles from 80 to 15 degrees of viewing angle which covers a great range and the KOWALA can sit vertically or landscape on the stand. The stand folds up to be mega portable and supports the KOWALA perfectly. Work on your lap or on your table. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Want to learn how to draw?
