Luxolo on earth is a brief documentary piece following Luxolo Ndlovu, a 21 years old South African trans activist. The film explores ideas of human nature and change. His work employs mixed media techniques ranging from animation to live action. His first feature film “Finding Sofía”a live action narrative film, premiered in BAFICI film festival 2016 in Buenos Aires, and had it’s USA premiere in Austin film festival. Nico directed A Boy and His Atom (2013), a stop-motion animated short film created by IBM Research scientists. It was made by moving carbon monoxide molecules, and is recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records as the world’s smallest stop-motion film. Nico’s work has been showcased in festivals like Sundance, BAFICI, Siggraph, Viedram (Rome), Holland film festival, Ars Electronica among others and collected Gold and Bronze statues in Cannes, Clio, AICP, and London LIA awards.
