OLEDCOMM - LiWi Transmits Internet Through Light at 10Mbps

LiWi Data Through Light http://www.mobilegeeks.com Oledcomm was showing off a LiFi receiver built into a lamp that was connected to a standard router. It sent the internet connection via light at a maximum transfer rate of 10Mbps; close to the speeds of many home ISPs, which range from 10 to 20 Mbps. In this demo the light was only being transmitted one way, so if your laptop wants to send information back like asking your browser to open a webpage the laptop would have to have an infrared port to sent those commands back to the lamp. In future LiFi networks, devices may also have their own LED bulbs so they too could upload.
