(5 Dec 2018) Former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn, arrested in Japan on suspicion of under-reporting his income, is holding up well while in detention, according to the Brazilian consul general, one of the few people allowed to visit him.
Joao de Mendonca Lima Neto said Wednesday that Ghosn was "a strong man", ready to fight the allegations against him.
He didn't look worried, Mendonca added.
Ghosn, who headed the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Motors auto alliance, was arrested last month on suspicion he under-reported his income by 44 million US dollars over five years.
He holds French, Lebanese and Brazilian citizenship. Representatives of those nations, as well as attorneys, can visit suspects in detention in Japan.
