Steve and Mary Ellen are back for 2 months. Matt stopped by on his way to a bachelor party in New Orleans. We got together down at Clearwater Beach. There are a couple places in this video that did not encode well. There was a lot of movement looking over the ocean with water sports as I was following. The encoder struggled to represent the gray sky well with all the movement on the water. I tried various options on the export, but none seemed to get it right. This might be a limitation of AVCHD at a maximum of 28mbps where as, newer cameras are up to 50mbps in mp4. Possibly, if I had been in manual exposure, I could have prevented the iris from stopping down maintaining a brighter picture. That could have helped the sky. This youtube upload is from a 5gig .avi file encoded by the Main Concept codec, inside Magix Video Pro.. The same 3 min video compresses to 600mb in .mp4 The avi file seemed to have less artifacts in the problem areas.
