Students Injured In School Bus Mishap

 County-- Forty one kids were rushed to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellfontaine 
after a bus they were on slid off the road and rolled on its side into a
 ditch because of icy road conditions Monday
afternoon.



The accident happened on Township Road 88 north of State Route 366 just before 4:00 p.m.



ABC 22 news spoke to some of the kids on that bus, with parental consent, who explained to us their frightening experience.



I
 was scared! Scared and sad, because we didn't know we was going to make
 it, said Toni Scott, a third-grade passenger on the bus.



We
 had to go out the back door, there was a boy with a bloody head, then 
they all got in the truck then the ambulance came, said Nancy Scott, 
Toni's older sister.



Medics
 and the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) arrived on the scene within minutes 
and places the children onto another bus. Police say none of the 
students were seriously injured, just a few
of them suffered from bumps and bruises.



Toni and Nancy's mom, Marcia Mccomes explained to our news crew her relief when she saw her babies.



 Oh I grabbed them and cried and hugged them, thank God they were alive, she said.



Although police are investigating what exactly caused the accident, investigators say it appears weather was a factor. 



With
 the weather that we had since the weekend, it's every drivers 
responsibility to recognized that and drive as safely as possible, the 
townships and the county do the best to treat the
roads but we still have the responsibility to be extra careful, said 
Captain Dan Lay  of the Piqua District of the OSP.



Parents like Mccomes hope the county will do its best to get to these roads faster, so her kids' lives aren't put at risk.



I've
 been through the experience of loosing a child and that was my worries,
 coming here and finding out my kids weren't with me anymore and they 
are and I'm blessed,Mccomes explained.



Police
 have not released the name of the female driver, but parents told our 
ABC 22 news crew that this isn't the first time a school bus accident 
has been on her record. The Superintendent,
Patrick O'Donnell said the district will launch a full investigation as 
to what caused the accident. Then he will determine if charges will be 
filed against the driver.
