Former Pennsylvania Gov.Tom Ridge talks about gun violence, culture and mental health as it relates to gun violence, Sen. Pat Toomey’s legislation to expand background checks, and gerrymandering and redistricting. He spoke to the media after speaking at the Lancaster Chamber "Wake up to the Issues" forum Nov., 9, 2018, at the Star Barn at Stone Gables Estate in Elizabethtown, Lancaster County. Ridge was the first U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security from 2003 to 2005 and served for 12 years in the U.S. House of Representatives. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
