http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org At Cincinnati Children’s, we understand your cancer journey is more than just a diagnosis, treatment and recovery. It’s a lifelong pursuit of wellness that requires support and easy access to resources to help you through this journey. Our growing set of digital resources supports our patients and their families to seamlessly navigate their journey from cancer diagnosis, through treatment and into survivorship. It is normal to feel overwhelmed, confused and uncertain about the future after getting a cancer diagnosis. You may feel like you’re drowning in paperwork and new information. To help you through this, one resource we are working on is a library of short, family-friendly videos with info on diseases, the care team, and treatment plans — all available at your convenience. Having a strong body and mind is at the center of wellness and keeping your treatment on schedule. Our ETCH, Electronic Treatment Calendar Hub, gives you easy and secure access to your treatment and medication schedule. It can also help track when you last took your medicine and remind you when it is time to take your medicine again- so you never forget a dose. During treatment, your immune system can become weak. This increases your risk for getting an infection. Infections can cause delays in your treatment schedule; so it is very important to reduce your chance of getting an infection. We designed a special ADL (Activities of Daily Living) 1-2-3 device to help with this. This device will help you take control of your wellbeing. It tracks when you complete activities that have been proven to reduce the risk of infection while you are in the hospital. To help you control your wellbeing at home, we offer a Remote Patient Care system. This lets you stay connected to your medical team through your phone or mobile device. You can “check in” any time with questions or concerns. You can also look at data like temperature, blood pressure, and weight to help you avoid unplanned visits to the clinic. You can also use the Uncertainty mobile app, and watch other short videos. These will teach you about treatment complications, such as fevers, ways to prevent infection, and helpful tips to navigate your care. We believe that Survivorship begins when you are diagnosed, so we provide digital resources to help you as you progress in your journey to lifelong wellness. These resources focus on ways to maintain excellent health and have info on nutrition and physical activity, cancer prevention care, and fertility preservation. At Cincinnati Children’s we are committed to cancer research and giving you world-class and leading-edge clinical care, AND we’re committed to giving you a world-class patient experience. We are always working to provide resources and tools to support and empower you on your journey from diagnosis, through treatment, to survivorship and life-long wellness. If you have any questions about our work on this or would like to give feedback please contact the Cincinnati Children’s Cancer and Blood Disease Institute.
