Dr David Monkton looks at the place of the Eucharist in Methodism from the time the Wesley’s in the eighteenth century until. He does this by taking us through one of the eucharistic hymns of Charles Wesley: ‘Jesus we thus obey.’ He draws attention to the fact that Methodism, although ‘low church’ in appearances, is ‘high church’ in its theology. Moreover, it expresses its eucharistic theology mainly through its hymns.
