Glancing Blow Impact
The first of two Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) that was expected to sweep past Earth today did arrive, however was a very weak glancing blow impact. The solar wind did show a very slow and gradual increase Sunday afternoon to near 500 km/s. The Bz component of the IMF ranged from +4 nT North to -7 nT South. The second CME is expected to produce minor to major geomagnetic storming late on March 12.
