Since moving to a laptop-driven rig, my DJ setup is constantly evolving. Here's a spontaneous tour of my current arrangement. It strikes a nice balance between simplicity and flexibility, allowing me to mix like a traditional DJ, but bring in some of my favorite production techniques to spice things up on the fly. If there's interest, I may do a more organized, in-depth look at the setup details. 

I could never wrap my brain around the clip-launcher on the APC-40. When it's full of clips, it's just a mass of green squares which made for a lot of counting and referencing the laptop for figure out which clip was under each button. When I figured out that the iPad sits nearly perfectly over the APC's launch grid, a whole new world of control options opened up. This Ableton + APC-40 + iPad combo allows me to use the iPad for what it's good at — clip triggering with color and text labels — and still use the APC-40's knobs and faders for all of the fun hands-on stuff.
