Using an Amazon Echo & a Raspberry Pi, we can control our TiVo devices to change channels with our voice, you can also use this code to start Netflix and Hulu on your TiVo.

Detailed written steps can be found on my GitHub for this project.

This project using Python code called Fauxmo, which turns your Raspberry Pi into a fake Belkin WeMo device (a smart outlet), allowing us to turn ON and OFF code. My code then telnets into the TiVo to remote control it.

During the discovery phase, Alexa will only search for 20 seconds, which is only enough time to program 12 devices into Alexa's memory. If you follow these steps, we can program Alexa to control 24 or more devices.

tivo_list1.py teaches Alexa 12 devices, tivo_list2.py teaches another 12. TiVo.py is needed to combine both tivo_list.py files and actually run the code to control the TiVo. The TiVo.py program will not be used to teach Alexa new devices.

Any device (Channel Name) that you teach Alexa will be saved into her memory, so you only need to run the tivo_list.py programs once during the setup process.
