Why the Government is Burying Radioactive Waste in Your Backyard | Graham Elwood

An investigative environmental report and nuclear accountability breakdown hosted by Graham Elwood for The Political Vigilante. Prompted by a story submission from Patreon supporter Ernestine Wolfe, Graham reviews the controversial Department of Energy (DOE) proposal regarding the cleanup and closure of underground radioactive waste tanks at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Washington State. Over 2,000 residents, environmental watchdog organisations, the Yakama Nation, and state regulators in Washington and Oregon have raised alarms over the DOE's plan to fill ageing single-shell tanks with concrete grout and leave 64,000+ gallons of residual plutonium waste in the ground—highlighting an estimated 201,000 gallons of toxic leaks already contaminating local soils and contrasting nuclear hazards with sustainable clean energy solutions under a Green New Deal.
