If nothing else in this game, I do think the mechs look pretty damn good. More so when they aren't moving, which is probably why this game loves to take cinematic shots of them before every mission.

By now I'm sure you've noticed the menus in between these missions, it's probably about time I talk about them. You gain points from missions and use those to upgrade your suits, buy new ones, buy new pilots, and change suit type. All of those takes at least one or two days to take effect and while an MS is upgrading or being remodeled it will be unusable for battle for that day.

Time is a big factor in this game. You have deadlines to complete each mission and you don't want to miss them, because then you'll lose a lot of points and may not be prepared enough for the final battle. Otherwise, there's no real punishment for missing battles however. You just have to figure out some time management when upgrading mechs and doing missions. When a mech is damaged, it can take 1-3 days to fully repair it depending on the damage, and it cannot be sortied until it is fully repaired. This is why it's good to have at least two MS you use so you have one to fall back on if a deadline is approaching and your main MS is broken down.

You can have two MS to be used by your allies, but this really doesn't matter much. Just give them anything. If you're lucky, your allies will act as a meat shield and draw enemy fire before dying. If you're REALLY lucky they might get a single kill. Otherwise they just wander around the battlefield not really doing anything. As you rank up in game, you are told by menus you can direct them with the D-pad but I've never noticed any change in the AI from doing this and there is no text or otherwise to let you know it did anything, so I don't think ordering your allies even works. Allies are preeeeeetty much useless in this game.

Because of that buying stronger pilots has little value so I wouldn't recommend wasting points on it. You can get pilots with the names of famous pilots form other Gundam shows and video games, but it's just text and stats so it means nothing. It's just references for the sake of it.
