Fire Destroys Leawood Home

Strong winds fueled a two-alarm house fire in Leawood on Thursday afternoon. The fire was reported just after 1 p.m. in the 3200 block of West 88th Street. The house was destroyed. A couple in the home was able to safely escape with one dog. Firefighters were able to rescue a second dog. The cause of the fire is not yet known. KMBC's Maria Antonia reported that Leawood firefighters were assisted by crews from Overland Park and Kansas City, Mo.
