Here is my quick outdoor painting of a view of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Enjoy!

I tried some more intensive editing this time - I haven't tried editing to music since my second year animation course two years ago! I hope you enjoy this calm video. In the end I decided that a voice over was not necessary, even though I had a lot to say about the painting. Here's a bit of extra information about gouache anyway:

Often I work in a watercolor-like way to start, and slowly build up to more and more opaque layers. You can definitely use gouache opaque through the whole thing, and I do sometimes, but I love how gouache is when it's thinned down. Honestly I think you can do whatever you want with gouache, there's no one way to use it, just as there's no one way for oils, acrylics, or anything else.

I also utilized some deliberate re-activation of the paint on my page, when I put the light opaque gouache over the tree trunks. The colour I mixed was a light warm gray, but it also picked up the green/purples that I had put down before, and made for a more varied finish. If I kept rubbing more, I could pick up more of the darks underneath and really render the trunks - the more you scrub, the more you'll reactivate the lower layers. Just depends what you feel like!
