The Bureau of Meteorology forecast "a few showers" today for Mackay however at around 11am, a very heavy cell developed over Mackay where it sat for well over an hour and dumped some torrential rainfall. Unfortunately the rain missed both automatic weather stations (Mackay and Mackay Airport). Driving was difficult with 30km/hr maximum possible with the wipers on flat out.
