Never before has Mercedes offered such a broad range of compacts: the A and B classes, the offroad GLA, the four-door, the CLA Coupé and now the CLA Shooting Brake, the station wagon among the Mercedes compacts.

Unlike the car maker's classic estate car, known internally as the T-Model, the Shooting Brake is clearly more a Lifestyle station wagon that fuses design and roomy practicality. Visually, it inherits the contours of the coupé and lets them flow gracefully into the hatch of a station wagon's rear. But is the design as practical as it is striking?
