EGYPT - Nefertari's Temple of Hathor at Abu Simbel

The smaller temple at Abu Simbel is Nefertari's Temple of Hathor. Hathor the cow goddess was the wife of the sun god, Re. So either Ramses was real sweet on Nefertari, or (more likely) she nagged him into it. LOL "When you gonna build me another temple? You never build me temples anymore like when we were dating." etc. etc. Inside the hypostyle hall you can see that the pillars have female figures carved on them. These represent Hathor as a woman with the ears of a cow. Hathor figures were very popular in the monumental construction of antiquity and are some of my personal favorites. This footage was recorded June 11, 2012.
