California wildfires: Number of missing surpasses 1,000

The number of people reported missing from the worst US wildfires for 100 years has risen to more than a thousand. The charred remains of eight more victims have been found in northern California, raising the total to 71. A severe drought in the US state has exacerbated the conflagration, which still has not been stopped.
