Urban artist Justin Bua, host of American Revolutionaries: The Series, riffs on Martha Graham and the value of learned skill versus innate talent. What truly makes an artist?

From Bua: "Is great art the result of a divine inspiration, or is great art the result of hard work and learned skill? Whether it's expressionistic like Martha Graham's, or academic like Rembrandt's, great art is always the result of a tremendous amount of work, observation, thought, and study.

Martha Graham did believe in what she called a life force, 'a fleeting creative energy that could be channeled,' but from what we learned about her work ethic, you can tell she did not rely on a divine moment for inspiration."
