The Canton Tower is the tallest structure in China (followed by Shanghai World Financial Center). It is the seventh tallest structure and the third tallest freestanding structure in the world. 
The tower was designed by the Dutch architects Mark Hemel and Barbara Kuit together with Arup in the UK. The tower was opened to tourists in October 2010
