European Commission: Low Turnout 'Part of Wider Trend'

A spokesman for the European Commission on Monday said that the low turnout in the European elections, at 43 percent and down for a seventh consecutive public European election, should be seen as part of a wider trend in which a general public disinterest in politics also should be factored in.
