The UK was being blasted by "Storm Callum" all day but this din't stop LNER A3 Pacific 60103 "Flying Scotsman" storming up the East Coast mainline from London Kings Cross to York with the "Farewell to Alan Pegler" charter train. Alan Pegler was, of course, a hero to all British steam fans, as the man who put his life on the line in order to save Flying Scotsman from the scrap yard. We are all very grateful to the man. We first see the A3 approaching Claypole Loop near Newark in Notts, where she was to take water. This stop allowed me sufficient time to get ahead of the train for a second view of the A3 climbing the steep incline, north of Doncaster, at Arksey.
