Well, actually, Levy is not even a original Levy, but the driver from the Nova Fox. The airbox front end is actually a Bigwig 2017 re-release part, and so are all the rear a-arms. And now ... the front bevel and counter gears and all four front a-arms are re-release parts too.  So is this still a Bigwig 1986? Or more of a 1986-2017 Hybrid? Still, with the original 1986 gear boxes, chassis and body, I like to think of this as a 1986 Bigwig. 

And does it even matter, when it comes to a runner and a non-shelf-queen? Well, I suppose a Bigwig 2017 would have held up better, but this was a non-planned very cheap second hand offer I aquired last year.

This time, to slow down the breaking of parts, I decided to slow down the buggy itself with a brushed Tamiya 540-J. There is always the option to get a new Bigwig 2017 with fresh parts and a GT-Tuned motor, if I want to go a little faster again. Or maybe the Bigwig, vintage or re-release, was meant to stay under 30 kph like the stock 1986 build. In my opinion, the Hotshot, Boomerang and Bigwig has too many fragile design elements and parts. Like the incredible hard a-arms and the tiny and thin pins on the gear box that is supposed to secure the front body mount and the rear shock tower mount. 

Of course, if I want to keep running this one, there was no other option than to replace the gears and a-arms, but I actually chose to keep the original gear boxes and use some hot glue instead. In 1986 this was my favorite repair method when it came to keeping my Nikko Turbo Panther running. So, it seems fitting to re-use this abomination-repair-method on my current 1986 runner. Also, I recently build the Boomerang re-release, and before switching the gear boxes on the Bigwig, I have a chance to see if the small pins on the re-release rear gear box of the Boomerang actually will hold up. 

Time will tell. This Bigwig and some more Bigwig talk will definitly be coming back on this channel. Hope to see your comment in the comment section!
