This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Life is beautiful. Inspiration is everywhere. The problem is most of us are too busy caught up in our everyday lives to even notice. Smart phones and mobile devices have permeated our culture and these can be blamed as one of the major distractions for most of us. Grownups are busy checking their email or reading the news. We can't get our kids to go outside anymore because they are preoccupied playing games or texting. It can be argued that they are stifling our creativity and robbing us of every minute of our free time. However, by seeing smart phones as creative devices, instead of annoying distractions, you can utilize the camera you always carry with you to nurture the imagination and develop an "eye" for beauty. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
