The 1968 Mustang GT that starred alongside Steve McQueen in the film Bullit might be one of the most well known and well loved Mustangs of all time. The lore behind the car was so impressive that ford launched a modern tribute car in 2001 after receiving rave reviews at the LA auto show. Based on the the standard 2001 GT Mustang, the reborn limited-production Bullitt featured a 4.6-liter V-8 tweaked for better airflow and power, including a cast-aluminum intake, twin 57-mm bore throttle body and high-flow mufflers. They also gave the Bullitt a firmer, lowered suspension for tighter handling, as well as special exterior enhancements and interior touches meant to capture the spirit of the movie car. Unique wheels, "Bullitt" badging and a brushed-aluminum fuel-filler door helped complete the look, with a factory serialized identification label included to verify each 2001 Bullitt as a true collectible.
