Website: http://www.fao.org/wbf/en/ The World Banana Forum (WBF) promotes the worldwide adoption of best practices for sustainable banana production and trade. It is a permanent space of assembly where the different stakeholders of the banana supply-chain seek solutions to their common challenges through enhanced dialogue and sector collaboration. The WBF has three specialized working groups which address the most urgent environmental, social and economic challenges. They are tasked to achieve an industry-wide consensus on best practices regarding workplace issues, gender equity, environmental impact, sustainable production and economic issues. The Working Groups identify and analyze best practices, test them through pilot projects and produce recommendations and guidance documents. They will establish a best practices library open to everyone. Their activities aim to promote: - sustainable management of natural resources; - mitigation of and adaptation to climate change and environmental impact management; - respect for human rights (labour rights, health and safety at work); - gender equity and decent work; - fair distribution of value along the supply chain. © FAO: http://www.fao.org
