What is a Rubaiyat? I found it through a language we were born into but could never claim it as our own. What is our body if not just a fracture, leaning towards extinction through taught remembrance? I dwell in questions without any real interest for their answers. I stumbled upon these special quatrains on a trip. In Northern Ireland, I was in Belfast once, giving away pounds in exchange for a leather-bound fit-in-my-hand very compact very beautiful very aged book. It became a pull towards my ancestral past. It made me create this. I am leaping. * Hi. This is Ayesha. I have privatized all my old videos. I have been meaning to do it for a long long time but I was never able to do so because I am clearly in love with what the past gives me. If you want a video from the past, please let me know, I can provide a link of sorts. We can figure something out together. I care fully even now of the community here that I put so much energy into. I am 24 this year, writing from New York City. I ended up graduating in Animation and creative writing. Imagine that. There is no way I can pretend that my childhood and teenage years spent here had nothing to do with it. I do wonder often how things would have turned out if Pakistan had not banned YouTube. Would I still be creating content actively here? A big question with no real answer. I make video poetry now. Hopefully for now, my work would be claimed as mine. I hope you enjoy it. I hope it makes you feel well. *
