Something I haven't spoken about publicly yet at all, I suffered with an eating disorder from age 13 - 20. (I don't even know if I am fully ready to get into it!) It has made me so determined to do all I can to pass on unconditional body acceptance to my children. We have got such a tough, tough, tough job on this- we are inundated with ridiculously strict ideas on body shape from all corners. I want my home to be a place where all body shapes are celebrated and my children to grow up knowing that you can love yourself no matter what shape you are. I like to celebrate my body in front of my children, I like to grab my stretch marked belly and say look at this beautiful thing that held you. I wonder if we saw our bodies as incredible tools to live a life of adventure - I wonder if this attitude shift would help?!
