This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Racial and ethnic minorities in the U.S. are under represented among medical students and practicing physicians. This lack of diversity limits the quality of medical education and contributes to disparities in health care delivery. 

Jonathan is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Michigan, whose practice focuses on minimally invasive general and bariatric surgery. He is the founder of the Doctors of Tomorrow Program, a partnership between the University of Michigan Medical School and Cass Technical High School in Detroit.
