SELF-APPROPRIATION, THE 1ST STEP
Despite delays and connection glitches- while occasionally coming off as frothing at the mouth- Aristo delivers another passionate rant. He admits the his talks are variations on a multifaceted theme, and attempts to sum it up here under the label: self-appropriation. He explains that no matter where we are self-appropriation is our first step toward solution because through it we are motivated, mobilized and matured. Aristo addresses attitudes that are prevalent in helpless or distressed children, where one would think adults have at least mastered a certain poise to address their challenges without resorting to postivist/negativist extremes. He suggests integrating the extremes, even as he rants and sputters against the boundaries of politically correct propriety. Being your own parent and embracing the child that you also are so you can pull yourself through what confronts you is self-appropriation. Most who are on social media can still resist the ever-seductive slide into resonating with the system that manipulates us to one or another "justified" extreme. We turn the world around by turning ourselves around, knowing there is a long way to go and we are just getting started. In a way, every step is the first step.
