In Peru's rural regions open fires are traditionally used to cook meal in homes. That's not only bad for the climate but also for the health of the people. 
 
The non-governmental organization Microsol is installing efficient wood burning stoves that use 50 percent less fuel than conventional stoves, and as a result, are kinder to the environment. 
 
Carbon dioxide emissions are lower and the new stoves are better for the population's health because the smoke they produce is expelled through chimneys.
