- Grape vines in Santorini don't grow like traditional vines because a) the island is covered in lava ash, limestone and pumice stone, and b) there is hardly any precipitation (i.e., rain). So, instead, they grow the the vines in "nests" (wrapped and entwined) and the vines actually get hydrated in the evening from the clouds / humidity. Quite a different process than your usual vineyard.
Catamaran Tour
- we took a catamaran around the island and made a couple stops at various spots, like a) the hot spring beside the volcano (where we spread red clay on ourselves because everyone else was haha) b) the red beach and the white beach so we could swim in the aegean sea.
