In order to seize control of the world, vampires have managed to maneuver humanity into a nuclear war that leaves the planet permanently shrouded in clouds. Free of their fear of the sun, the vampires conquer the human race and place the survivors in farms where they can be bred and fed upon. The vampires rename themselves Stargazers and create an elaborate theocratic technocracy to perpetualize their rule. Unfortunately, one of their number becomes fascinated with what he learns from a human shaman and his discoveries threaten the stability of civilization.
