Queen Elizabeth is just the second monarch in British history to hold the throne for 60 years -- the last being Queen Victoria, who celebrated her Jubilee in 1897 -- and the achievement didn't go unrecognised. Families gathered to show their support as the beacons were lit at various locations between 10pm and 10.30pm. A crowd gathered around Jawbones Hill Beacon Dartmouth UK to watch the beacon lit by John Mitchelmoor from Dartmouth 10.15pm.
