Relative, wreckage-hunter comment on alleged MH370 debris

(30 Nov 2018) Relatives of passengers and crew who were on the still-missing flight MH370 on Friday held a joint press conference to hand over what they believe could be more pieces of the plane's debris to Malaysian officials. Grace Nathan, a spokeswoman for the victims' next of kin support group Voice370, showed media a possible piece of the plane's floor panel during the press conference in Putrajaya. "Until today, its almost 5 years, every single piece of debris that we have, has been found by a member of the public. The official investigation has found nothing," Nathan said. "I think that they should be more encouraged to take more of an initiative to launch more, more search or more efforts to get the public to be on the look out, in the countries where the debris is washing up." Wreckage hunter Blaine Gibson said that the fractured piece, believed to be from the passenger cabin, could be able to identify whether the plane shattered on impact. The jet carrying 239 people from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing vanished March 8, 2014, and is presumed to have crashed in the far southern Indian Ocean. A report released in July raised the possibility that the jet may have been hijacked even though there was no conclusive evidence of why it went off course and flew for over seven hours after severing communications.
