Mom Speaks Out About Murdered Son

DAYTON-- A mother is speaking out for the first time since her son's brutal murder. 22-year-old Dawann Harris was shot and killed at an apartment building on Kensington Drive March 10. Lawanda Harris said her son was dropped off at the building and said Dawann was robbed for his wallet and then shot in the head. "For them to take my son like this, I don't understand because he wasn't a bad person. He was my oldest son and my best friend. " Lawanda Harris told ABC 22/FOX 45 reporter Chelby Kosto. She said Dawann left behind a two year old daughter. "It hurts her so bad, because her daddy was always there for her. She understands what has happened." Homicide detectives believe they are close to making an arrest. They are meeting with the county prosecutor this week to see if charges can be filed.
