Polo wrapping a horse's leg to protect them from injury. This video will demonstrate how to polo wrap your horse's leg. If you are somewhat experienced with bandaging legs on horses and know the risk involved when improperly bandaging a horse's leg, whether with it may be polo wraps or standing bandages, consult this video to help you get that perfect leg wrap every time. If you have absolutely have no clue what to do then find a professional who does these type of leg bandage often such as a polo player or someone who has lots of race track experience as those people have no room for error when dealing with high dollar athletes. Wrapping a horses' legs on is an everyday task at the professional level and must be done by an experienced individual as to not cause permanent damage to the leg of the horse. What is a bowed tendon? It's acute tendinitis which can occur when a bandage is not evenly applied to the leg or too tight. A loose polo wrap or bandage will slide and bunch up which can also cause a bowed tendon. Do not leave a standing bandage or polo wrap on for more than 24 hours unless advised by a veterinarian for a specific injury and applied by a profession. Always check the instructions on any bottle or tube of liniment, salves or other types of leg medication to make sure it's OK to cover with a bandage or instructed by a veterinarian as many products can blister the leg especially when plastic is use in applications such as "leg sweating". Practice bandaging and polo wrapping on yourself or a friend first to get a first hand feel of how snug or loose you wrapping is. You can communicate if a bandage is too tight and needs to be loosened or re-wrapped and obviously a horse can't so you need to get it right every time. The last thing you want to do is cut off circulation to the feet or bow a tendon because you thought you knew what you were doing. Polo wraps and bandages can cause serious injury and pain to a horse's leg.
