This is another short video illustrating a simple mistake which a DSA driving examiner could fail a provisional licence holder for.

On the UK driving test, you should never make sudden direction changes even if you realise you are going the wrong way.

The DSA exminer is assessing your ability to drive a vehicle safely and not your navigational skills. Many people get their left and rights mixed up, so there maybe a time when you have signalled and positioned yourself in a particular position only to realise you should be going a different way. Just stay where you are and continue in that direction. Let the examiner worry about where to go next, while you concentrate on driving safely.

I have been on many driving tests and have never seen a candidate failed just for going the wrong direction as long as they did it safely (MSM routine, correct use of lane and did not affect other road users).
