Mason County man accused of shooting ex-wife in the head

MASON COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - A man is in the Mason County jail, accused of shooting his ex-wife in the head. Ricky Bowen, 63, faces attempted murder and theft of a firearm charges.

The Mason County Sheriff's Office said Bowen shot the woman as she slept on the couch at a home on Slack Pike, outside of Maysville on Saturday morning.

A medical helicopter flew the victim to UK Hospital. She was treated and has been released.

Deputies aren't releasing the victim's name. They haven't said where Bowen got the gun.

Bowen is locked up on a $100,000 bond.
